Our pole fitness class incorporates pole dancing into an over-all fitness workout to make sure you get the most out of every session.

We teach pole fitness in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Classes last for one hour, are suitable for people of any age, ability or background and can be booked in six week blocks or paid for weekly.

Classes are held every Sunday between 2 and 3pm at David Lloyd Clubs, Newhaven Harbour.

This increasingly popular activity involves the use of a pole as a workout prop to perform athletic moves such as climbs, spins and body inversions - and by using the body itself as resistance it increases upper body strength as well as toning the body as a whole.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Pole fitness has carved out a niche for itself in the past few years - becoming one of the hottest fitness trends.

Pole fitness itself is a combination of dancing and gymnastics, tailored epically for use in a non-erotic environment.

Many people wonder about the difference between pole dancing and pole fitness. Pole dancing is often used in a strip club setting and is performed with less gymnastics and often combined with striptease and/or lap dancing, where as pole fitness is based around the working of specific muscles and has no form of stripping or erotic dancing involved. Although both forms are working core and body strength, only pole dancing is performance orientated.

Unlike pole dancing, the overall sex appeal is toned down making it suitable for all ages and is open to anyone. There are now recognised schools and qualifications available making it altogether a more mainstream form of fitness.
