More About Donna
Hello my name is Donna Ross.
I have always been a dancer - I started dance lessons at the age of 3 and continued till my teens.
I attended Joyce Paterson's school of dance, and later on at age 18 went to Telford college and completed a range of highers in performing arts.
I excelled in dance and because I had such a good dance teacher (Dawn Hart) I was inspired to one day teach dance to others.
I fell pregnant at the age of 21 so had to put my dance career on hold to concentrate on raising my fabulous daughter Dana-Rose. I still kept up my dancing by going to local dance classes (hip-hop, salsa etc)
I went to Jewel and Esk college to study psychology, higher communications sociology, media studies, history, Spanish, geography and much more, which I completed with flying colours.
While at college, I taught a salsa and drama classes for Link Up, a local community centre in Edinburgh. Later on at the end of my college year I applied to a company in London to learn how to do pole dancing. While there they asked me to work for them and teach pole dancing in Edinburgh and do hen and birthday parties in local night clubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
I worked for this company for a year and learned how to do cheerleading and burlesque, later on I was approached and recommended by Access Partnership and independent business to start up a small business running my own dance company.
I then went on different courses to learn how to run my own business and I applied to the Prince's Trust and Business Gateway, who thought my business idea was wonderful so I asked them for help.
The Princes Trust and Business Gateway both gave me a start up grant to buy the right equipment and so I bought two platform poles from Alistage Company and other equipment to get my business up and running. I also had to find a studio so I applied to lots of gyms and went with David Lloyd gym at New Haven harbour Edinburgh.
